Hey, I'm Tater
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Alexander Amaro, and I am from beautiful Orange County, California. When I was a child, my mom gave me an old film camera, and that was the day I fell in love. My parents have always been supportive of me taking pictures growing up, leading them to getting me a few cameras throughout my child hood. From countless disposables, an Olympus digital, a video camera, and a Nikon D3100 for Christmas in high school, they have always been supportive of my creative side. While in high school, I took my first photography class, where I learned about the technicals of composition and the basics of lighting. It was while I was there that my dream to become a photographer had begun. As the years grew on, the spark had begun to fade, as my focus had been set on starting a family and settling down. It wasn't until an overcast day in the May of 2024 that I had decided to pursue what was once a dream. Now armed with the passion of my youth, paired with the wisdom that only comes with age, I feel that I am ready to face the world, and capture it through my lens.
Why Tater?
When online, and remaining anonymous, I like to go by the moniker of Tater. I earned the title while playing the video game RuneScape one night with a few friends. On that night, I decided that it would be funny if I sold all my in game assets that had been accumulated over 13 years of playing in exchange for potatoes, and changed the name of the account to potato. As the years went on, potato got shortened to Tater, and the name just stuck whenever I needed to make a new account for video games, discord, etc. Now that I am older and don't play video games as much anymore, I like to use the name as an homage to a simpler time, and a way to keep the memories from that friend group alive.
